This carries the most weight in the score, because it is the clearest tell: natural sites have varied, mostly branded anchors, while link schemes show an unnatural concentration of exact commercial-keyword anchors. An over-optimized anchor profile is the single strongest red flag a site can wave.
- A weighted risk score with a threshold. The signals combine into one weighted toxicity score. Above the threshold, or on a single extreme signal, the site is flagged and excluded. The verdict is deliberately conservative, keeping a borderline site out costs you nothing, letting a toxic one in could cost you rankings.
- Cached, so it is cheap and fast. Each site's backlink features are cached, so scoring is reused rather than re-fetched, and the check happens before candidates ever reach you.
